Dear: Chairman Ghazi Abu Nahl.
Mr. Kofi A. Boateng, COO
and Members of the WTCA Family,
Thank you very much for your kind notes of sympathy and encouragement.
Please accept our deep appreciation.
At the time that the huge earthquake happened, our office, located on the 37th floor of the World Trade Center Tokyo building, shook violently for several minutes. We felt like we were boarding a vessel in stormy seas. But, fortunately, all of us and our families are safe and we experienced almost no damage to our office or homes.
There have been are a high number of victims in Tohoku Region of Japan.
The death toll is now expected to be in the tens of thousands.
Furthermore, the disastrous explosions at the nuclear power plants are posing even graver threats. This makes the rolling blackouts that we have to live with pale in comparison. As our Prime Minister, Mr. Naoto Kan, has said, this is Japan’s biggest national crisis since World War II. People are doing their best and we hope for the best but fear is real at the moment.
The good news is that we have not seen any confusion or disorderly conduct amongst people so far. Things seem to be under control. We believe all the people here will do their best. With the support of the world and well wishers like the WTCA family, we shall surely overcome this catastrophic situation.
Thank you very much again for your sympathy and encouragement to not lose hope.
Sincerely,
Tomio Tsutsumi
Chairman
World Trade Center Tokyo
