The ambassadors from Hungary and Slovenia visited the World Trade Center Twente on 20th April. The visit was organised by the WTC Twente and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce to present the economic potential of both countries. The ambassadors laid the emphasis on the sectors their countries are particularly strong in like engineering, food, logistic, tourism and health.
After Freerk Faber, the director of the World Trade Center Twente, welcomed the visitors Leon Marc from Slovenia presented the economic profile of Slovenia. The country sees itself as the ‘Business Spring-Board to South-East Europe’. With 2 million inhabitants Slovenia has a central position between Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia in South-East Europe. Hungary borders even eight countries. According to the Hungarian ambassador Gyula Sümeghy the trade between both countries counts for 5 billion euro. The export volume of the Netherlands is bigger than the other way around. This is mainly because of the multinationals. The purpose of the meeting was to look at the chances of small and medium sized companies.
Different members of the World Trade Center Business Club took the chance to present themselves and ask questions about trade in Hungary and Slovenia. The questions were mainly about importers and agents, cultural differences and the market entrance. Both ambassadors offered their help to find contacts in their countries and to look for possibilities to participate in regional trade fairs. At the end of the visit they agreed on making profiles of the Dutch companies. These will be spread by the World Trade Center network and the ambassadors. For companies from Hungary and Slovenia will be looked for possibilities to facilitate the entrance into the Dutch market.
After the visit at the World Trade Center Twente the ambassadors continued with the cultural Helikon festival where a group of young Hungarian and Slovenian make music together with Dutch peers.
